This program sheds light on the little known fact that murder is the number one cause of death among pregnant women. The killers, more often than not, are the women's husbands and boyfriends. Fatal Fathers explores this disturbing subject through the personal stories of four pregnant women who were murdered by their intimate partners, interviews with experts in the field and an interview with a man serving life in prison for killing his pregnant wife. |

PROUD TO BE A GIRL This Emmy Award winning PBS documentary explores the growth of self-esteem in young women -- the power of friendship, the pressure to achieve the perfect body, problems of racism, and more. These issues are explored through the voices of three strong, young women --Ashlie Butler, a talented dancer and actress, Lauren Hermes, a child of divorced parents and a second mother to her younger siblings, and Miranda Oropeza, a singer-songwriter whose mixed ethnic background has given her a unique perspective on how to define herself. The program profiles Katherine Cheng and her four adult daughters, Amy, Anna, Alice and Audrey. Through their words we learn about the complexities of mothers and daughters. GRAB HOLD OF THE REINS This PBS documentary, won a 2003 Gracie Allen Award. Focusing on the lives of three women who have battled breast or ovarian cancer, the program touches on the effect that cancer has on a couple's sexuality and looks at how the disease impacts the entire family. We meet Kristine Falco a therapist she works with other women who have survived cancer and she uses horses in her therapy; Cindy Melancon, a mother who has stage 3 ovarian cancer, and Zora Brown, an advocate for African-American women with cancer. THE WAY HOME Produced in association with Lovett Productions, Inc., this series pilot for the Hallmark Channel was narrated by Glenn Close and won a 2005 Omni Intermedia Award. The film profiles several stories of reconciliation, including the the story of a small Midwestern farming community that was forced to confront its own stereotypes when Hasidic Jews moved into town, the reunion between a father and son after years of estrangement. Finally, the hour sheds a startling light on one woman's need to forgive the perpetrators who murdered her husband and raped her daughter. |

PHENOMENAL VOYAGE Aired on PBS in 2003, Phenomenal Voyage celebrates the contributions that women have made to the world through science and technology. Profiles include Bonnie Dunbar, veteran NASA astronaut and shuttle team member and Kelly Rankin, noted coastal engineer. Viewers also meet two teenage girls who reject the notion that if you're female and successful in science and math then you must be a "a nerd". One of the girls, 16 year-old Kyra Sedransk, recently invented a mitral heart valve and was awarded a patent for her design.
